What you'll see
Ambon's black sand hides some of the strangest life in the ocean.
Macro divers and underwater photographers come here for creatures that are hard to find anywhere else. A few of the regulars:
Rhinopias
Ornate and weedy scorpionfish, in more than one colour morph.
Wonderpus & mimic octopus
Plus blue-ring and hairy octopus on the sand.
Ghost pipefish
Ornate and robust, often carrying eggs in season.
Mandarinfish
Dusk dives for the mating display over the rubble.
Harlequin shrimp & nudibranchs
Flamboyant cuttlefish, seahorses, and hundreds of nudis.

The main event: slow, close, critter-focused dives on the black sand of Ambon Bay. 1–5 minutes from the shop by boat. Ideal for photography.
Night & blackwater
Night dives for the critters that only come out after dark, plus blackwater dives out in the open water column.
Reef & wreck
Outside the bay: colourful reefs with sea fans and table corals, plus wreck dives.
Banda Islands trips
Multi-day trips out to the Banda Islands — walls, pelagics and the spice-island setting.

We're in Laha village, on Ambon Bay — about 10 minutes from Ambon airport (AMQ) by taxi. Airport pickup: IDR 75,000 per person.
Rooms
Simple, clean rooms at the dive shop — IDR 400,000 per day. Air-conditioning, WiFi, single or double bed, private bathroom with hot water, breakfast included. For our diving guests.
On the water fast
Two speed boats go out daily. From the shop it's just 1–5 minutes to the muck sites in the bay — a quiet, uncrowded area.

Local owners
Agustinus and Bambang are local — they've dived these waters for more than ten years and have a good relationship with the village.

An Ambon frogfish lover through and through. Experienced, dives constantly, and finding the bay's rarest critters is genuinely his hobby.

Small groups
One boat carries 5–6 divers. Guiding is macro-focused, and a private guide is available.
Payment
Cash — US dollars, Euros or Rupiah — or bank transfer. We don't take cards, so plan to bring cash.
Safety
Ambon has a recompression chamber, and the nearest sites are only minutes from the shop.
